J-11B Best Chinese Navy fighter: A heavy weight jet with latest missiles and fire control systems

Показать описание
Chinese Navy release a new video of their best fighter in service, the J-11B. Comparing with Chinese Air Force with J-20 stealth fighter, Chinese Navy still struggle to obtain a fifth generation fighter.
It is reported that Chinese Navy is considering J-35 medium stealth fighter still in prototype development stage, but that would not materialize in a few years’ time. And because of the consideration, Chinese Navy have not had the chance to procure some J-20 stealth fighter. The J-15 fighters serving on Chinese aircraft carriers are also impacted by the uncertainty, it appears Chinese Navy is reluctant to improve J-15 for the reason only a stealth fighter will meet real world combat requirement.
That makes the recently improved J-11B and two-seat J-11BS the best Chinese Navy fighters in service.
The J-11 is a Chinese twin-engine fighter based on Sukhoi 27 fighter of Soviet Union. J-11B is a key variant, and J-15 is a carrier born variant. The latest J-16 is the best J-11 variant, but it is deployed to Air Force only.
The J-11B is a true multirole variant of the J-11, incorporating Chinese subsystems to bring comprehensive air-to-surface attack capability. The original J-11 is only an air-defense aircraft for interception missions.
The J-11B was first unveiled in 2002. By 2011, 90% of the J-11B variant was domestically designed and built in China. Adopting WS-10 turbofan engine, and Chinese fire control systems gave J-11B much more advanced combat capability. With WS-10 turbofan, J-11B avoid the risk of supply issue of Russian made engines.
The latest improvement to the J-11B includes better fire control radar, 3-axis digital flight control system, new power supply system, improved emergency power unit, brake system, hydraulics, fuel system, new molecular oxygen generation systems, and glass cockpit.
It is reported that after many setbacks, the design team finally manage to reduce the weight of J-11B by adding more composites.
With new fire control system, the J-11B can now carry the latest PL-15 active radar guided air-to-air missile.
It is believed that first batches of J-11B start to retire from active service, however remaining J-11B fighters will receive further enhancement, likely including an active electronic scan array radar, similar to J-10C and J-16 fighters. Even if Chinese Navy secure a stealth fighter, J-11B will still play an important part in the possible Taiwan Strat war.
