How to Use an Arduino As ISP

How to download an Arduino boot-loader using a second Arduino. This is the easy way to get the Arduino boot-loader on to a chip with no boot-loader. In the video I show you how to make an Arduino emulate an ISP controller so you don't have to buy one.

Most helpful tutorial for arduino mega as ISP. I don't have uno. So did long search for mega. I found it is not fully completed. But is clear enough to understand.
Here uno is not playing any vital role. just supplying power, crystal oscillator and making ISP connections easy. I think same thing is possible with mega as ISP and atmega328 on breadboard with proper connection and crystal. I also think atmega tiny and other atmega chips also could be burnt same way. I request a tutorial for these cases as I am a beginner.

I typically do this process by using the duemilanove as the isp, and program the atmega chips on a breadboard.

This way makes it easier to program many chips at a time, because you just arrange the breadboard in a way that makes it easy to put in/take out the chip, it's a lot easier take a chip off a breadboard than a socket.

I'm sure sparkfun has some jig to burn 30 chips at a time or something ridiculous though.

i have a problem with the arduino i can't upload anything and the led TX and RX in the arduino don't blink so what i must do ?

Good idea, that would be much easier if you had many chips to do, however with just one chip the connivence of the arduino board make it worth it to use the arduino board. But the sockets are a pain. Sparkfun probably has something with a ZIF socket, those are really convenient.

You can buy the bootloaded chips in bulk from ebay.

As long as the uno has the right ISP program loaded and the 2560 has the right boot-loader, I see no reason why not.
