We spent an entire week filming the Florida mullet run with our drone and we captured some epic moments! The mullet run occurs every fall along the beaches of Florida. Billions of baitfish migrate south for the winter along with thousands of hungry predators.

I witnessed a mullet run in the intracoastal in Boca Raton years ago. It was UNREAL!! You almost could've walked across the water on them. I've never seen anything like it before or since. The water was solid mullet, there were thousands and thousands of them. This lasted at least 20 minutes! Unreal!

The Tarpon feeding on its side and then jumping/splashing was pretty cool. The sharks cruise'n through the mullet cloud was cool too.

Outstanding! Drones do provide an incredibly new angle on things of this world that were right in front of us which we were not able to see! A real eye-opener.

The sheer speed @0:58. And @1:02, how close we are to danger and never even realize it. That splashing dash @1:15. Amazing! There is so much to take in. I love going in the water and have almost always lived near beaches. It is astonishing to watch this video, yet makes me fear the waters even though I have been able to swim since infancy. You just never know what is right beside you.
Enjoy your beaches and world, folks. Love these videos, but they feed into my early-childhood "JAWS" fears. Heh.

Did anyone else notice how the tarpon were turning on their side before striking. Interesting predation behavior.

My God, a literal cloud of fish stretching for miles just feet from the shore. Those gazillion mullet swimming just below the surface, us land living creatures are totally oblivious to the undersea world of life and death. Awesome footage. It totally transforms the way I'll look at my beach trips.

That is amazing footage. I've never seen anything quite like it. Thanks for sharing your catch! I'm going to play it again in slow motion, sharing it, too.

I lived in Brevard County, Florida from 1971-2017. Every fall the mullet run was one event that I really looked forward to. Cast nets ready. Fishing tackle tuned with new knots, fresh leaders and line, hooks sharpened and once the mullet started moving toward Sebastian Inlet it was game on. Cast netting in the surf and using live mullet for bait you never knew what kind of tackle busting, drag burning monster you might hook. We’d fish the mullet schools south to the Sebastian Inlet and when the mullet moved through the inlet so did everything that ate them. At the inlet it was mainly redfish and doormat sized flounder that I was after but I sure never complained about hooking up a big snook. In 2017 I moved up to the Florida panhandle. It just got too crowded in Brevard. Fishing up here is a lot different than it was in central eastern Florida.
Mullet don’t have a friend in the world except another mullet.
It’s about time to head for the nearby bay here and cast net some big mullet for smoking. Yum.

This is fantastic footage! Love it. Wish I had drone footage of when I was running along a sea wall to keep up with a porpoise just a few feet from me in the water. It had a mullet in its mouth and was chasing a school of mullet. Another porpoise was coming from the exact opposite direction head on. When the porpoises got to within about 20' of each other, the mullet were forced to turn and go out into open water where there were 3 more porpoises coming toward them from different directions. So, you had five porpoises surrounding the school of mullet culminating in the mullet having no where to go but up and out of the water! They all jumped into the air and thrashed about as the porpoises gobbled them up. It was spectacular.
