How does our tongue taste wine?
Have you ever wondered how our tongue tastes wine? We taste wine and food through taste buds which are like raised protrusions or buds known as papillae on our tongue.
We tend to taste sweetness at the tip of our tongue, sourness creates tingling sensations at the sides of our mouth. Meanwhile, saltiness hits more in the middle of the tongue, and makes your mouth dry. And we usually taste bitterness at the back of our throat.
Later on, this science was dispelled as many believed that the taste buds taste wine equally. But I still believe there is some truth to this theory.
Do you think you taste wine differently on different parts of the tongue?
