In this video I review the Matis outdoor TV antenna. It runs about $40 on Amazon, has a built-in amplifier, and claims a 150 mile range. How well does it work?

4:56 For those wanting to see Tyler demolish that piece of junk antenna.

Tyler, it’s always a delight to see you destroying those piece of junk antennas. On top of that, you’re very informative. Keep it up!

Here in Arizona, the plastic on those antennas degrades very quickly in the sun and heat. I see a lot of them with parts missing. Plus, the internal pre-amp usually fails in less than a year.

I knew how it was going to end, but I still watched. Not disappointed!

Tyler, if you have a “ticking time bomb”, you absolutely want it to fail! 😂 Just messin’ with ya. I’d say any claim over 80 miles is using marketing deception by truthfully citing the diameter of the reception circle. Only junk antennae would rely on that trick.

Love your videos and thanks for always giving good advice! ✌️

Yeah, I see these on roof tops around here. Thanks to you I know better and have your recommendation for a VHF and UHF antenna on the roof. I pickup about two dozen channels. I'm adding a filter for cell signals today.

Neighbor had one like that while I was living in PR, the coax was skinny and broke down in less than a year in the sun . Coat hangers give better reception

I've had this antenna for 10+ years I got it on ebay. It picks up channels most others cannot in the area. It's been a terrific buy.

I have this antenna, which I obtained for a couple of dollars at a thrift store. Now I know why it did not receive a darn thing. Thank you kindly for this review. Much appreciated.

I came close to buying a antenna like this a year ago . I like the idea of the rotator that did not need a power source at the antenna . Every rotator I saw was way more expensive and involved allot more work . So to me the idea was pretty good . Now searching for the best deal on Amazon I came across Tyler and showed how these antennas performed . I was disappointed . I do have towers in opposite directions . Rotators seem to be a pain and multiple antennas . I settled for the insane gain by range experts Tyler recommended but I had to wait almost 6 months as his recommendation cleared house . It was worth the wait . Channel master recommended no antennas for my location and it did not look promising but I had a friend who was getting stations in the neighborhood so I made the purchase and got over a 100 stations . I did get a ge amplifier that I believe cleaned up some noise I was receiving with good signals . So in total I paid $125 where junk antenna I would have paid a quarter of that . Now similar antennas to my selection were more expensive so I feel I still got a deal . Have to give thanks to Tyler showing me the light and guiding me to this antenna .

Tyler have you ever tried one of Danny Hodges homemade antennas? He’s a southern gentleman that has a channel on YouTube that makes and tests his own tv antennas. His tests net some pretty respectable results.

ive had this same one for many years now, still works a treat for what we use it for. then again our stations are not that far apart. but the rotation can pinpoint what we want to watch.

So long as it's got HD then it's good enough for me!

Love watching your reviews. I’m in a different category from most folks here, I’m sure. I live in a van. What antenna would you recommend for those of us on the road? Thanks again for your great content.

Antenna Man, I'm disappointed in you. You should have saved the review of this antenna for around the 4th of July and blown it up with some 4th of July fireworks.

You sure Apsolutely 100% correct about these antennas and especially about there range. I'm in the southern Maryland area. We talked not to long ago when I wrote a comment about the range and how they are such Liar's. I'm the southern Maryland area what antenna would you suggest I use. It's for My motorhome so I do need something small and not to big. Thank You and Great Job making others aware of all the crap going on we need that everyone does. The deceptive marketing methods and practices are horrible these days and it's Pathetic to say the least. Thank You for sky information on a Good antenna you would use if me. Not holding you to anything just want you think that's all. Thank You again Brother

Out of curiosity, Tyler, have you ever done a comparison of the oldschool indoor antennas (I grew up in a "Rembrandt" household in the '60s-80s) with the present day indoor antennas to see how the vintage antennas stack up? Might make for an interesting video. And whatever became of the Rembrandt company; did they merge with another manufacturer or just go out of business? Thanks as always!

I know it's gonna be a good video when the antenna looks like a ray gun from a 50's sci-fi movie!
