How to Delete Downloaded, Failed & Pending Windows Updates [Guide]

There may be times when your Windows Update may give you problems on your Windows 11/10 computer. You may even see Pending Windows Updates which refuse to install for some reason in spite of several attempts. In such cases, you should consider deleting the failed and pending Windows Updates that are downloaded incompletely to your computer and then try to restart installation once again as soon as you restart your computer.

On Windows 10/11, installing cumulative updates can sometimes cause problems, such as failure to install due to file corruption, compatibility, or unknown bugs.

Whatever the reason, if you have problems installing an update or users report issues with a particular rollout, you can delete pending updates to download the package again or skip the update entirely.

Hi there, I have this failed update "Hewlett-Packard - USB - 6/1/2018 12:00:00 AM - 46.2.2631.18152" Install error - 0x80070103" which never goes even though after retrying. How could I remove this? I cannot add a screenshot here

This did not work for me, when I have two failed updates with install error 0x80070103 (which indicates the updates have already been installed). Both failed updates still appear on the list, and instead of giving me an option to check for updates, the only option Windows gives me is to retry the failed updates. It's a neverending loop.
