I loved Scratch when I was in high school. There's a person on there who made a 2D paper version of Minecraft with working random terrain generation. The last time I played it, it was constantly being updated with new things. It has a bunch of the classic mobs, villages, and even working nether portals that send you to the nether.

hi Z, if you're going to continue this game, one thing you have to buy is the "comms booster" (it looks like a wi-fi router) this item doubles your ability to go deeper from 250 to 500

if you are thinking about buying the "collection arm"
So far I have only found 3 artifacts, you have 2 on the left side of the map, go to the end of the map and then go down and look for a sunken boat there you have a bell and a bottle, then on the right side of the map inside a cave you have a shell (takes a small submarine)
