I was fired from my first corporate job, here’s the story. When I was 21, I somehow landed my dream job at a prestigious hotel with a ton of perks and a well-paying salary. But when “Freddy” took over as General Manager, every day working was like walking on thin ice. The pressure of the job built up, until one day I made a dumb decision that would ultimately result in my termination.

So would you do the same in that situation? Make sure to stay until the end to find out what happened after I got fired!

Key lesson- never trust your coworkers no matter how nice you think they are

Bad managers will destroy a business yet they are so accepted for whatever reason. Everyone else gets blamed for the failure but it’s often management

This character Freddie is in everyone's work history 😂😢

The old heads played you. This happens a lot in corporate where employees who have been there a long time put a younger or newer employee to do their dirty work. There is always a manager that everyone hates but they don't have the guts to speak up. I bet none of those people spoke up for you

Never ever ever let peers put you in a position of vulnerability. They wanted you to take all the risk with none of the benefit. Valuable lesson.

A change in management can change the whole place dramatically. Its like working for a completely different company.

I really enjoyed listening to this story. Sometimes I want to tell employers they can take their job and shove it.

Yikes...what a miserable manager!! Now that I am in my 30s (and an independent contractor mind you ;) I can honestly say that management and work culture is EVERYTHING. Sometimes it takes a firing for us to realize where we belong and where we do not. It's called learning! Can't wait for your next story!

Happened to me, trust me, everyone will convince you to do stuff and you would think they have your back, but when you are in the situation you are all alone. I felt all the emotions as you.

I would've never made it past that first team meeting where he threatened to fire you the first time. I would've challenged him right back, absolutely rude!

Wow! I can totally relate to this story. I also used to work at a hotel and we had a similar director like your character Freddie. He was so mean and accused me of stealing money. I ended up leaving that job to move to LA and shortly after he was fired for stealing money. I’m so glad it’s over!

Those people who talked you into doing it (should never get a good nights sleep). Lesson learned Jacy!♥️

One of the most realistic yet optimistic accounts of getting fired I've ever heard. You absolutely can be self-reflective while still acknowledging that your former boss or whomever was basically a horrible human being. You absolutely can believe that there will be a time when you will be glad this happened - even as you recognize for the immediate you may well have been set back a year or more. Above all - be proud of your bad experiences, and even your mistakes. A few times a year I write a letter to a manager I had back in 2001 - although I never actually send it. I thank her for always making me feel better whenever I have a bad day at work. I thank her for reminding me that the worst day I can possibly have is still about a hundred times better than a typical day under her.

I was fired for the first time after nearly 12 years. Honestly I learned more about myself through that challenge then any positive experience in my life. With difficulty comes ease. Jacy keep fighting the good fight. It’s so obvious you are an amazing person and you have obviously learned more about your self through a difficult situation. Bravo! Keep up the great work.

An asshole aint worth no beef or premium parking! Lol. Being happy in your job is so important, it's good that you're not there any more. A bigger and better door will open.

You made a mistake BUT you fessed up & learned/had a couple of takeaways about yourself which will serve you in the long run. Great story!

Remember work is not a level playing field. Management & owners have all the power; employees have very little (that includes the UK, where I'm from).
