Togo and Seppala in Nome, Alaska before the Serum Run.

While some have guessed this video to be from 1920- 5 years before the race for life- another segment of this video refers to Seppala as the 2 time winner of the All Alaska Sweepstakes Race. Since Seppala won the race three times, I believe this was before his third win, making Togo about 4 years old and at his prime.

Greetings from Skjervøy, the place where Seppala and his family lived (before Nome - his parents are buried here). Just wanted to tell you that in feb 2024 we are erecting a statue of Seppala and Togo here close to where the Seppalas had their house - his father was a blacksmith. By the way, enjoyed the video. They just stopped by our place on the Yukon River a few hours ago!! Beautiful 16 Siberian Husky dog team. Got some awesome footage even though it was at night! They are doing the 100 year anniversary Serum Run!

One another interest fact, is that my big sister's husband is related to Leonhard Seppala and named their son after him.
