Hi, this may be a silly question. However, do you wash the Berkey before setup? I'm nervous to mess it up. I don't ever use bleach. Only hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and vinegar. Thank you

Are the filters supposed to be standing straight up? Both of mine seem to slant towards the outside. I have the Travel Berkey.

I want to get a Berkey large enough so I don't have to fill constantly. I've heard that if you don't fill every other day at least, then the Berkey won't work correctly because the filters dry out...is this correct? Would it be OK to fill only every 5 days or so?

1.) Can you use only one black filter at a time and replace it when its reached 3000 gallons?
2.) How do you know when you've done 3000 gallons?
3.) If the unit sits unused while we are gone on holidays (several weeks - months) will the black filters be ok?
4.) I did not understand how much arsenic special add on filters will filter. Can you please explain?
5.) I saw that you sell a "vino" spigot too. Which is better, lasts longer, doesn't drip, etc - the vino or the regular one?

This might be a silly question, but does it matter how the filters are lined up? I notice that everyone positions their two filters diagonal from each other, but I have my two black Berkey filters/fluoride filters side by side. Will this make a difference?

I guess I should have watched a few videos on assembly before I bought this. My kitchen faucet has the sprayer head like a shower and not a neat round spigot like in many of the videos used in priming the filters. Water sprays out everywhere! I am disappointed that I now have to purchase a primer pump to get this filter system up and running.

"Do not use tools or over tighten, as this may strip the threads on the wing nut." They forgot to say that if you do over tighten and strip the thread, it will render your entire filtration system useless until you spend a stupid amount of money for a little piece of plastic.
