"Think (About It)" by Lyn Collins is a classic funk and soul track released in 1972 under James Brown's People Records label. Often hailed as one of the defining songs of the funk genre, it features the powerful and commanding vocals of Lyn Collins, who was often referred to as "The Female Preacher."
The song was produced by the legendary James Brown and is renowned for its infectious groove, tight rhythm section, and the iconic "Woo! Yeah!" break, which has become one of the most sampled breaks in hip-hop history. Artists like Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, Janet Jackson, and Snoop Dogg have all incorporated elements of this track into their music, making it a staple in the world of sampling.
Lyrically, the song is a call for women to assert their independence and not be taken advantage of in relationships. Collins delivers the message with a mix of sass and empowerment, urging women to "think about it" before getting involved with a man who may not have their best interests at heart.
"Think (About It)" remains a timeless anthem, celebrated for its raw energy, feminist message, and its significant influence on multiple music genres.

Thank goodness for Don Cornelius and his vision for 'Soul Train'. If not for him, what would the probability of waiting on someone else to create a program that would film and document this aspect of the culture for prosperity?
