I will never look at the scene of Thomas's firebox on fire the same way again.

It still amazes me that after all these years, people still propagate the rubbish that the oil baths on original Bulleids caught fire.
The bath's were enclosed, so sparks wouldn't get in there for starters and the oil in the bath would be below the flash point anyway, so wouldn't even have caught if a spark landed in it.

The fires on the Bulleid's were caused by axle box oil being flung up into the lagging and sparks fron the blocks would set it off, if there was a big enough build up.

The axle boxes were fed from the cab oil trays and when crews didn't remove the wicks, oil kept feeding the axle box keeps and then overflowed down the wheels.

Maybe you should do a video to address this old enthusiast myth,
Mythbusters style 😅

Thomas fans learning Firebox on Fire is not unrealistic. Should spread this out.

All Steam Engines in the US have to have spark arresters fitted. In the US, for a long time, steam Engines used wood as the fuel source for fire. Wood can produce sparks and ash much faster than coal, and so the risk of starting fires on the tracks and even forest fires was much higher. Wood was also very plentiful, especially since there were almost no coal mines at the time.

A friend once told me of a man at his local model society who didn’t drop the fire of his engine when he was finished running it and cleaned it with paraffin which is normal. After this, with a still hot fire he loaded it up on his trailer and drove off. Needless to say that the paraffin caught on fire and the engine was engulfed in a fireball twice.

I only watched the show in the early '90s, so to me, seeing Thomas's face actually move is very unsettling.

Your overlooking instants where the engine burns bad coal causing the pollutants to catch fire causing flames to come from the engines funnel and pistons
