Why Istanbul Is The Place to Get Your Hair Back

Every year hundreds of thousands of men pack their bags and fly to Turkey because they want their hair back. The nation's hair treatment industry is worth north of $1 billion, but clinics are lightly regulated and technicians rather than doctors often do most of the work. As the sector expands, some wonder whether profit is being prioritized over patients.

True beauty comes from within. Says a guy with a full head of hair.

Just got my transplant done in December, although I tried to tell myself that it’s just superficial and hair isn’t a big deal. It was a HUGE drain on my mental health whether I like to admit it or not. After recovering and almost 10 months post surgery, I look younger than I was in high school or college.

Thank you Turkey!!!! 🙏🙏🙏

It's hard to describe the unbelievable detrimental impact to self confidence and self esteem of hair loss to someone that's never experienced it. It's impossible.

Did anyone else see that hero that saved that one person from becoming a 'Tram-cake'? Bless that guy!😅

So if in the US/UK you're mad at people for going to Istanbul don't make a video bashing them! Lower your prices! Stop trying to charge 50k for surgery, vast majority of people who go there are very happy

Did anyone else think that Hussein already looks so badass in his bald look.

Yeh I know several Uk people who went to turkey. Cost was about 80% cheaper even with flights and hotels, they had a luxury holiday, surgery went perfectly as their hair looks great, I can’t help but think this video is fear mongering propaganda

Recently visited Istanbul and had no idea of this industry whatsoever. Yet my hotel was PACKED with guys having diapers on their heads and weird hairlines. This explains everything lol

USA and England are butt hurt due the fact the turkey does hair transplants for much cheaper. I’ve done it 4 years ago in turkey and I can’t be happier.

Did my hair transplant last December in Istanbul, best esthetical decision I've ever made. My advice is, do your research, go to forums, don't stop learning about the procedure and the industry. Only then you'll know the right clinics for you.

Edit: For those too lazy to read the comments below: I went to Cosmedica by Dr Acar. 3500-4000 Eur, December 2020 prices.

As someone who's losing hair and it's widely clear, the idea of having a Hair transplant always crosses my mind. but there's always "what if it didn't go well?" the pain of regret is largely impactful than being Bald I guess.

Being from the UK I’m seeing NO promotion or evidence of any transplants being done here, so Turkey is probably the best place to go lol! plus the Turkish are amazing, welcoming and beautiful people, just do your research on the best place there.

Is the real problem people are going to Turkey and not going to Dr's in the UK.. loss of income?

Turkish person here. This trend also causes massive shortage of dermatologists in the rest of the country. In my hometown of Keşan (population 85.000) where there are 4 hospitals (3 of them private), we went without a dermatologist for three years, and currently we only have one. In the nearby city of Tekirdağ (population 1 million) there are only 5. So this industry really needs to be more regulated, both for the sake of medical tourists and local citizens who require the services of dermatologists for reasons other than hair treatment.
