I came with my family from US on 6/13 and still in Istanbul, First 8 nights we stayed Sultan Ahmed area, and now Bayrampasa for 10 nights and renting a van for round trip is $61 a day.We are going back sultan Ahmed area on Friday for 4 more nights that we will depart on Tuesday. The best place is Sultan Ahmed area to Fatih area because you don’t need a taxi nor a van everything is walking distance.

I liked this clarifying video. I was in Istanbul back in 2016, and on my way to Taksim from Sultanahmet, I made the wrong turn and ended up in Tarlabasi. It was late at night, and it did look like walking in some areas of my own city (Lima, Peru) that I would think twice about entering during the evening. Anyway, I appreciated this part 2. Thanks!

You were correct. Kadikoy was pleasant, convenient and good value. I both rented rooms in budget hotels and an apartment by the week.

Every time I go to Pakistan from Canada (my home) I take Turkish airlines and stay in Istanbul for several days. Having done so many times that I know some areas of Istanbul very well. I like Turkish food and soothing call to prayers, it is a very nice place for me. I even had a brush with an attempted robbery on the seaside park across from Sultan Ahmet. I have stayed at Taksim and Sultan Ahmet. Love it!

I can understand your thinking because you are a local and thinks as a local. I live in NYC and I stay away from Times Square, the Empire State building area and all those touristies areas, but if you are a visitor coming for a brief stay, I couldn't tell you or anyone to stay in New Jersey, or the Bronx or Brooklyn because its cheaper. First of all, what are going to do in those areas. Walk through a nice park? You can do that on your hometown. In the case of Istanbul, personally, I have been there so many times, and I just go for a short visit. Of course, I want to be able to walk everywhere, and the area of Sultanahmet or Taksim are the most appealing. Sure, there are places where they would scam you or the food is lousy, but that's part of the beauty to be a bit adventurous and find the right places to eat and to shop. The Grand Bazaar is a tourist trap, but as I said, you can find wonderful merchants with great and unique merchandise. I have relatives in Tarabya which is very close to the Black Sea on the Bosphorus. Yes. Its gorgeous, but if my stay in Istanbul is just for a few days, I want to walk around ancient history. If I'm going to stay in a suburb just because is cheaper, I might as well stay home. Its free and no hazzle. Be adventurous and rub elbows with the colorful tourists from all over.

Great visual!!! Don’t worry about the complainer, yes you clearly showed where one should stay in Asia. 👍👏

We're coming from Australia and just booked 7 nights in Kadikoy, it looks amazing and I've spent hours upon hours walking the streets on google maps hahaha :) Sounds like I made the right choice!

Thank you for making these videos. I agree with you in that sultanahmet is expensive and food there is horrible. However, it does have its charms being the old part of town and although its touristy it still has a nice vibe. Even Taksim and istiklal are very touristy. Just my opinion

This video is better than other videos with fancy editing that don't really provide useful information. I am visiting Istanbul soon, and I bookmarked these videos. Is there a hop-on, hop-off tourist bus in this area?
Edit: The big bridge connecting Asia and Europe, is that a nice place to stay? Anything going on there?

So far the best informative vlog on Istanbul. Thanks. Do you recommend Air B&B. Often pictures and reality do not match. Bad reviews galore!! I plan to travel to Istanbul with wife and infant child in Mid-April. Can you recommend a hotel or Air b&B in Karakoy or Kadikoy ($60-$100)

Very helpful. Someone commented in my fb post told me not to stay in Sultan Ahmed but stay at Taksim ot Kadakoy instead. I look out and come across your detail video. Will cancel my accomodation in Sultan Ahmed now and might move to Taksim :)
