Now with the “corn is scary” line I can’t help but think that all of these are Jax’s canonical thoughts. So the bit where he is wondering why he doesn’t have friends is odd because of the way he treats everyone, and he doesn’t know where his previous friend went.

Since Jax is 22 years old he probably never learned the coping mechanisms or social skills as a teenager, hence why he acts like a jerk and a child. Maybe he’s learning it as he’s in the circus? Him and Pomni are definitely forming a connection with each other so perhaps since she’s older he will learn more from her. Not to say he couldn’t learn anything from the other characters but he doesn’t seem to like their presence as much. Maybe there is just something about Pomni that will help him. We will see in episode 6!!

Apparently, corn is actually very bad for rabbits. It can make them ill for a long period of time. So maybe when Jax got to the circus, he ate corn and became sick for a while. Therefore making him fear corn, nobody wants to be sick.
