My wife gave Jimi’s dad a Kleenex at the opening of The EMP Museum in Seattle. About that time I bought a Mexican Strat strung left handed but nobody had changed the strap buttons. I paid $125 for the Strat and had it changed back to right handed. I gave it to her and always thought it must be a gift for her from Jimi for being nice to his dad. I moved to Seattle and met all the members of the Hendrix family. Leon Hendrix liked my dog.

I saw an article in a mid 90's Guitar magazine about the Flying V. They said it had been found at a garage sale bought for 5 pounds because of it's bad condition. The new owner noticed the original paintwork under the black whilst cleaning it & recognised what he'd got & had it professionally restored. I wish I had kept the mag now. It had some full page pic's of before & after.

Loved this 👌👌 i got talking to a lad from Newcastle a few years ago, at the time i was a drummer & he saw that i had a drum key on my keyring, so we talked about music for a while, he eventually told me that his mother used to be a cleaner at the city hall & the day after Hendrix had played there she found a guitar & had given it away, i dont know if its true or not, but if it is, someone got given 1 hell of present.

I've often wondered what happened to Jimmy, s number one guitar. I remember the white strat most of all. Really groovy video. Thanks

Great photos! I thought I'd seen all of Jimi's early photos, but you have some of the best!

GROUNDGUITAR, The 64 linda strat used Black Bobbin strat pickups which are suppose to have this Hendrix Bell tone sound he got on the clean tones for the 1st album. Also on the 1st album look into the date which he first got the fuzzface pedal because he recorded foxy lady, purple haze, Fire using the mosrite fuzzrite pedal because hendrix didn't get the fuzz face pedal until AFTER the recording dates of those songs.

It's sickening seeing that black Stratocaster in the possession of one of Jimi's murderers. It should have went straight to his dad as soon as he died. How that woman thought she had a right to that guitar is beyond me.

The family should loan the black strat to the museum that has his white. It would still be owned by them, but it would also be able to be enjoyed by the world. It would also likely be the safest in that museum since they know how best to store and protect historical artifacts.

The Black Strat was owned by Monika Danneman and she gave it to Uli Jon Roth

My bestie played with a VERY popular Southern Rock band in the 80s. He had a Wha Pedal and a Fuzzbox that belonged to Jimi and was given to him by Herb Alpert who, BTW owned the Red and White Floral Pattern Strat that Jimi burned when he did Wild Thang at Monterey

Excellent video. What a great way to be introduced to you Channel. I always enjoy hearing about iconic guitars, particularly the mods that are done to them. Subscribed 😎👍

I wish I had could been to Manny's because many Rock N Roll artists shopped and visited there. We miss and salute you NYC Music Row 😢 (1935 - 2015).

Hey Dan, great video. A video of Jimi's more obscure guitars would be very informative. The old Ibanez, the Duo-Sonics, Jazzmasters, 1955 Les Paul Custom, mid 50s Les Paul Special, the Bartell, Bigsby and Ice Mettalic Blue Strat, the Hawaii '69 Strat, the 3rd Flying V and the Sunburst Strat seen unused in Berlin 9/4/70 and the 10/8/67 thru 1/4/68 modded Strat would be eye openers to a lot of fans. Great job! Jimi played "Black Beauty" the whole night I saw him in Miami 1970.

Can't believe that guy painted over the graffics on the flying V. Would be a cool project to try and recreate.

Dannemann lied and lied about the night Jimi died and was not even at the hotel when the ambulance arrived. Kathy Etchingham sued her and won, after which Monika committed suicide. She never told the truth about that night. For her or her family to steal Black Beauty is one of the greatest injustices in rock history.

Also I never knew "cigars" had filters. 😂😂
