We're kicking off Vlogmas this year with my thoughts on how to be more confident with your custom cake pricing. No special formulas, just some good old advice.

Great video and glad you discussed inflation. It has affected me too and I’m unable to bake as often 😔

Thank you so much for this! I been waiting for Vlog Mas. I am a home baker and have underpriced a couple cakes due to the increase in price of ingredients. And depending on the non edible decorations, those prices haven't been very nice either.

When making a sculpted cake, do you use a dense or "sculpted" cake recipe? I watch a lot of food network cake completions, and a lot of bakers mention using a dense cake recipe during the competition even when part of the competition is how the cake tastes (example: holiday wars). Although, when I look up what makes a cake recipe dense compared to other cake recipes, everything comes up that a dense cake is bad. The sites google gives will say a cake is dense because of over mixing, for example, and not because the recipe is meant for the cake to be dense.

When you hire an experienced craftsperson, you're paying for the years, not the minutes.

Have you ever had a customer who knows a prior customer and questions why you charged less for a similar cake in the past? I know I'm undercharging by a lot right now but don't know how to increase prices because I'm not sure how to respond if people question it.

10% inflation? Only? That's very very low. Bulgaria - dairy and egg products are 100% more expensive, everything else - 75%. 10% for you is nothing. My cost in making cakes is double, literally. I stopped baking as I cannot afford it anymore.
