As an ex firefighter the adrenaline from the fires had me going for 3 days straight. When I was ordered to rest I fell asleep for almost a day

As a former volunteer firefighter, Powerade and Gatorade are extremely popular when fighting a fire.

Firefighters definitely have their own ways to keep energized! It’s great to see them asking for the right kind of support. 😄

You don't give them drinks that will raise their heart rate. They are under enough stress as it is. Give them water or gatorade instead.

My guess is most people had no idea that they couldn't drink this stuff, now they know.

"You are not allowed to have RB on the line." That statement tells you how good that crap is.😂

I don’t think most people know that these things are not healthy or not helpful, I believe they are genuinely trying to help. My late father, rushed to our home after it burn to the ground in 2003, with a box of fresh donuts to give to the firefighters as a gesture. The captain looked at my dad and said” we can’t eat that crap!”😢The look of shame in my father’s eyes still makes me cry to this day. He was only trying to be kind and helpful. Therefore, some of you in the comments saying, “stop donating this CRAP”, should really think about the fact, that these are people who are taking the time, are doing their best to help in any way they can and know how to. Now that it has been explained, these types of donations will not be given now.

I've never had an energy drink, but I've worked with a guy who was addicted to them to the point it was affecting his health

Co-worker died because he thought these were a good breakfast instead of actual food.

I consumed a lot of redbull when I was in the military. Finding out a few short years later I have heart issues. Well I learned my lesson, up to you guys now.

Good for you, calling it like it is. Those energy drinks are not for human consumption especially a firefighter who needs to be in tip top shape.

I don't know why people in the comment are getting so mad, at least these people are trying to help even if they send the wrong things, the people getting mad have done nothing

That reminds me of when I was deployed to Iraq. Civilians would send us soldiers candy with an "a little something to remind you of home" intent. The problem was too many folks wanted to remind us of home with candy. We had candy coming out the ears. We were so overwhelmed with candy that it got to the point where you could go to whatever personal services on the compound (JAG, accounting, whatever whatever) and the offices would be giving away candy. Once I was able to get back home, it took me forever before I was open to eating candy again.

A 100% healthy seventeen year old kid in my hometown almost died from drinking nothing but Rockstar energy drinks for three days straight. His heart flipped into what is called Ventricular Fibrillation, which is a lethal heart rhythm. The only reason he survived was he was with a friend who had a cell phone on him to call 911, and his friend knew CPR until the paramedics could defibrillate this kid back into a normal sinus rhythm. There are too many stimulants in those energy drinks.

I’m not a firefighter and I don’t drink unhealthy Monster or Redbull to stay awake or energized. These guys know how to take care of themselves
