Modi-surname Defamation Case: Supreme Court puts Rahul Gandhi disqualification on hold

In a big relief to Rahul Gandhi in the modi-surname defamation case, SC has stayed the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. While granting relief to Rahul Gandhi, Supreme Court said that the ramifications of the trial court’s order are wide. However, SC said, Rahul Gandhi’s utterances are not in good taste and is expected to exercise caution while making public speeches. Earlier, Surat Court convicted Congress leader in defamation case for his ‘Modi surname’ remark. Supreme court could not convince Rahul Gandhi to issue a simple apology. For his pride and ego, the case went all the way till supreme court. Instead of punishing him, the court is letting roam Scot free. If this is the supreme justice you get against who speak badly about your surname or name, perhaps we can assume that we are no reason to approach any court. Most judges unfortunately forget to bring common sense with them from home while coming to court.
