Just depends on the person and what they prefer when it comes to gacha games so for me and my friend Genshin is better but for others that may be different y’know? So neither are bad or good; just equal

Honestly, both excel at different things, but the gameplay is pure preference. Both are exceptionally well made games.

Something I don’t see anyone mentioning are the events. Gameplay wise: Genshin is very limited due to its forced adherence to the perspective of the traveller. Everything you do in Genshin is in the third person and is unable to be changed. In Honkai, they’re free to make as diverse a game mode they want (as long as the character are the same as in-game). Last update we had a game mode close to PvZ and now we have fall guys.
Events story wise: reiterating my statement from earlier, Genshin is forced to stay stuck to the traveller’s storyline. No event can come back the same way after each release. Plus crucial story plots for certain characters motivations are locked to these specific events. Honkai, on the other hand, can use any character it wants to make a story because of the multiverse. Plus there is a literal completely separate storyline spanning several events that are re-running with their only changes being rewards.

As someone who plays both... I somehow like honkai better, it's just that you start liking all the characters because you've got the time to get to know them properly

World and Graphics: Genshin (Ofc Open World)

End Game Content: Honkai (ER, Abyss/Superstring and Memorial while Genshin only have Spiral Abyss)

Story: Honkai (Because of one thing they are not afraid to kill a Characters to progress the story unlike in Genshin Because of the profit and Community outraged)

Gacha: both are worst (Genshin has one of the worst rate and 50/50 you need atleast 180 wish to get the guarantee specially in the weapons banner. Honkai on the other hand got the most expensive pulls but the good part is you only need 100 pulls for the Character banner to get guarantee and no 50/50 while the stigmata and weapon banner is quite ok)
Powerscaling: Honkai ( Honkai Impact powerscaling is more powerful than Genshin. A single Herrscher might solo Teyvat)
Gears and Weapon: Honkai ( Farmable Weapons and Stigmata with Gacha that always guarantee to get a 4 star Weapon or stigmata in every 10 pulls meanwhile in Genshin you will have to Face RNGesus itself to get a better artifacts and Weapon)

Character Designs: Honkai (better Character designs overall unlike Genshin who have to follow a strict CCP Law)
Combat System: Genshin ( Because of the Elemental reactions and didn't base on meta unless you play in abyss)
Reading Materials/ Manga: Honkai (Genshin only has 1 manga while Honkai got more)
Anime adaptation: Genshin (the First Hoyoverse Game to receive an anime)
Music/Concert: Honkai ( Far more better music and also Honkai Dream Euphony is one of the best Hoyoverse Concert i ever heard)
Community: Honkai (Chill Community unlike Genshin who become more toxic over time like Giving Death Threats to the VA and always think that they are always right)
This is my opinion for a lvl 88 captain with 4 years of gaming experience and a AR 60 Traveler with 2 years of experience..

Genshin story : Long text story, a bit cutscene, cannot replay the cutscene.

Honkai story : Masterpiece

coming back from just finishing act V of sumeru, i can tell they are definitley improving. act V is quite long but i was rlly invested and didnt get bored at all.

gonna be completely honest, I love both games, but one issue that they both have is how clustered the events are for newer players. Honkais elysian realm is an absolute HELL for new players. not because of the play style, but because you can't enjoy the story being told. The story won be over though, as complicated as it is I'm all for it. especially Mei and kiana reuniting.

I honestly prefer Honkai. Why? Because I played it before Genshin and has nearly gotten all Valkyries. Also because it's easier to get crystals and grind for mats. Also the Anniversary rewards are amazing..I just can't get enough.

As a F2P HI3 player for more than 4years now.... SSS characters doesn't matter that much... Weapons and stigmas matter...

The only that annoys me from the Genshin combat system is The auto lock on this is what causes you to miss ULTs

You can technically get 3 free S class valkyrie's in the starter journal, I'd say honkai is much more generous unlike genshin impact

When it comes to the storylines, it's not a matter of which one is better. They're two completely different stories, which means they'll each garner the attention of very different audiences. If more people don't like Genshin's story than they do Honkai's, that doesn't make Genshin's story bad, it just means that a majority of people just aren't into that plot type. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.
