I am quite impressed by Mark's dedication to the bit of going to Bermuda for a selfie in front of a random house and absolutely nothing else. I firmly believe that there was no editing going on, and that when he came back, Jay was absolutely standing in front of the computer ready for round 2.

When I was 17 years old my girlfriend who I met in the Capital of Turkey was from Bursa. I wrote dozens of letters and mailed them to Bursa, Turkey when I was in my late teens. I haven't thought of that place in years. It was so nice to be reminded of the place. It strange to think that that young girl I knew in the 1980s is now likely a 55 year old elementary school teacher getting closer to retirement.

If you're curious why the URL on that truck in Norway said .as, it's because in Norwegian, "as" is an abbreviation for "aksjeselskap" meaning "stock company". It's the Norwegian version of companies going by "& co"

I loved this episode so much.

Especially Bermuda. My grandmother was from Bermuda, so I recognised it fairly quickly, and I’m talking to you through the screen saying, “Bermuda. That’s Bermuda.” Then you’re searching down in the Caribbean and I’m shouting, “NO, THAT’S NOT WHERE BERMUDA IS!”

The African Rennaissance Monument (Monument de la Renaissance Africaine) is the tallest statue in Africa, and was built by a North Korean construction company. Yes I did just read that on wikipedia, I don't hold myself to the same standards as Map Men (unless you want to pay for my trip to Bermuda).

As a graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology), it kinda blew my mind to see the Steak & Shake I used to go to show up on Map Men. If they'd turned around, they'd have shown the building I used to live in.
