I don’t know a single mechanic worth his salt who wouldn’t see the endless uses of such a ratchet. I’m currently gathering parts based on your how to video to make my own!

As a plumber that does some minor car repairs. You know the little tricks of your trade that make it easier to do.
The DIY tool cooking is a skill that is learned over time.

They ask "why would you do that, why would you want that"!? That is GENIUS! I saw the first few seconds of this and I was already wanting to do this!

I could see why people might say, "why not just buy the 3/8 " ratchet" but they don't understand how much smaller the frame of a 1/4 " is. Now, does the smaller frame mean it's a little weaker? Sure, but as long as you don't use a cheater bar, (or loan it out), you'll probably not have any problems. Cool idea dude.

Been a tech for 21 years... I know why you did it.

You show this to your tool truck guy? Wouldn't be surprised if snap on started making them after seeing some demand and good use cases. Especially since they already make most of the parts in existing products.

If you make a run of these, please let me know!? I would like to purchase one from you. Please!

I started doing this with my ratchets a few years ago and I love it. Now all the guys in the shop are doing it. Our snap on guy just swaps the internals for us as a “warranty” when we buy the ratchets

Bad ass bro, in 30 years on construction equipment not once thought of this. Tomorrow ill build myself one. Thanks for sharing!

It makes perfect sense if you're a mechanic. Hell even as a guy who once owned a V8 Chevy Monza with AC I assure you how useful this would have been for the number 2 plug. The crazy thing I had to come up with to get at it and get torque, not to mention getting a new plug in was a royal pain! Took twice as long to do that one cylinder as all other 7 combined.

Who could possibly object to those well-modded and needful ratchets? If I had done up one, I'd hang it on the wall to more readily admire it. Carry on, young man!

If you have to explain why then they really don't need to know.

I completely understand your thought process. First time i ever did spark plugs on a subaru, i almost flipped out. It took me so long to figure out the right tricks. I bought a super shallow ratchet that works great.

The second you said Subaru everything made sense

Worth it.
On a side note, look at how fun it is to do spark plugs on a Mercedes-Benz B200 Turbo W245. That's a tight fit, and I wish I'd had this long 1/4 body 3/8 ratchet for this.
