Populus tremuloides (Quaking Aspen) has broad leaves that can capture a
lot of the sun's energy, but which also can easily be damaged by UV at
high elevations. The leaves are attached by a flexible stalk and they
flutter with the slightest breath of wind, thus preventing prolonged
exposure for any particular surface on each leaf.
