"He had to spend 4 horus explaining Facebook to senior citizens.
That's it. He served his time."

Congress should create a special investigation group made up of more technologically savvy individuals to ask the questions they want answered; then reconvene at another time. Nothing was accomplished because there was too much of a knowledge/age/generation gap.

What I was laughing at was Mark nervously drinking water, stopping for a second, seeing the senator was still going, thought for a moment, then continued to drink.

With the way that those Congressmen demonstrated how little they knew about Facebook and modern tech in general, I’d say that it’s high time that high-ranking government positions stop being dominated by old guys who can’t get with the times to save their lives.

The scary thing is that it's your microphone that picks up what you say and then targets advertising that you

As hilarious as this may have turned out, it should have been handled way better. This should have been the end of unlimited user data exploitation. But it has become nothing but a green light to go even further, since there is no real consequence for Facebook's relentless abuse of the private informations of its users. Thank God I left Facebook two years ago. Now somebody please find me an alternative for Google/YouTube/etc. xD

I feel like they could revamped Senate altogether because a younger Senate would have been better to ask questions and possibly get answers from Zuckerberg

The thing is, if you actually read Facebook TOS, Google TOS, or hey, even Android (or iphone) TOS, you're giving permission. That is the problem I have with this. It's not about the fact that people weren't made aware, because it's in the fine print. It's the fact that there needs to be more adult supervision when it comes to the TOS. They know damn well no one reads that shit. And this "investigation" (if you can even call it that) is going nowhere because the right questions aren't being asked.

You picked a bad example to mock for silly reasons. Its actually a good question, "What if I don't want targeted advertisements based on my data history?"

I deleted my Facebook account in 2005 so I'm absolutely loving the redemption here from every conversation I've ever had trying to explain that Facebook has been a complicit actor in the cultural death matrix which sounds like a band from '98 but is more like the consistently perfected data analysis machine working on how to auto-write a Transformers movie with absolutely no thought expended. The script will be automatic. It can be filmed with automated drones doing a circle of Los Angeles and then Autobots can be auto-inserted into the scanning shots of cityscapes.

Does no one know how an ad blocker works? Back when I was on FB I never got ads because I blocked them... it's not complicated.
