Puerto Rican “Canoas” | Stuffed Sweet Plantain Boats | Air-Fried!

Ingredients:
3-6 ripe plantains
1lb ground meat of choice
1 diced onion
2 tbsp sofrito
2 tbsp tomato sauce
3/4 tsp all-purpose seasoning
Black pepper to taste
Dried oregano to taste
Sazón
1 chicken bouillon (beef bouillon if using ground beef)
1 egg
Olive oil to coat plantains generously
Cheese for topping of your choice
Oil for frying
Air Fry:
• 375° to 400° for about 12-15 minutes
• Stuff with picadillo, brush with egg wash, and then top with cheese. Air fry for 3-5 min, or until cheese is melted and golden!
Bake:
• Spray cooking spray all over the plantains, wrap in foil, and bake for 20-25 minutes at 350
• Stuff with picadillo, brush with egg wash, and then top with cheese. Bake, uncovered for 5-10 min, or until cheese is melted and golden!
Fry:
• Deep fry in enough vegetable or canola oil to cover the plantains
• Stuff with picadillo, brush with egg wash, and then top with cheese. Bake @ 350°, uncovered, for 5-10 min, or until cheese is melted and golden!
