More details about this video:
Lifting something heavy without good technique is one of the most common ways to injure your back. Many times people lift with their back instead of with their legs. This video will show you two different ways to properly lift a moderately heavy object.

As seen in the knee strengthening video, you want to make sure you knees do not go over your toes. Spread your feet about shoulder width apart, and again, make sure your knees do not go in front of your toes. Stick your butt back like you are going to sit in a chair, but try to keep your back straight while bringing your chest forward. Pick up the box or object in a squatted position, and lift with your legs!

I got a job that requires me to lift heavy objects so this was a big help. Thanks! I'm not trying to have back problems at 19 😭

Started a new job yesterday where I spent the entire day lifting heavy tent bags. I think I've injured my shoulder from lifting, hopefully by using this technique in the future I can avoid injury.

Thank you for this, I lifted a lot of things today and I had pain on my back, so hopefully I'll try to lift with my knees.

Got any BIG, HEAVY presents under the Christmas Tree? Make sure you lift them correctly to avoid hurting your back!

I’m 23 and have a pulled side back muscle it’s so sore bruh this video finally helped me understand how to lift properly. The butt sticking out and knees passing toes info really made me understand how to lift so hopefully I can try this and give my back time to heal 😢

Thanks for this. Today I had to break down the seats in the auditorium. Which a requires you to lift and then drop. I was using my back and of course my dad lectured me, while my mom gave me pain medicine. Lol

Can you demonstrate how to lift something heavy like a cast iron roaster and place into/out of an oven (forward & reaching motion over a open hot oven door)? Another example would be reaching into a shopping cart to lift out a heavy case of soda.

I got an abdominal strain from moving something heavy. I wish I would have known these techniques a long time ago. Thank you doctor

Thanks. Starting a warehouse job soon (hopefully) and will likely use the kneeling technique. I'll probably invest in some gel kneepads. The squatting technique is good too but I'm not strong enough in my legs yet to do that all day.

Cheers for this. Always was lifting with my knees surpassing my toes. No wonder knee's a lil painful now. Now I know I gotta lift with my booty! Haha

Thank you so much @askdoctorjo this is just what I needed. I didn't even know the 1 leg behind was another way to do it.
