Hadrian’s Wall is probably one of the most famous fortifications of the Roman World, and it formed the boundary between Roman Britain and Caledonia—what is today largely Scotland. While we think the wall was built to enforce this dividing line, the source that comes from is actually notorious for fabrication. This has led historians of the Roman Empire to question the motives behind the Wall’s construction and its function in Roman Britain much more closely.
