💡 About This Video:
I've been talking a lot about seed oils in dog food. Why are seed oils in dog food in the first place? The reason that these dry kibble manufacturers started using omega-6s is because they weren't getting it from natural meat sources because they were using main ingredients, much cheaper inflammatory ones, such as corn, corn gluten meal, like those are often the first ingredients in dry kibble. We would then need to supplement omega-6 levels using an inflammatory seed oil. So this is just putting trash on trash. We can definitely get omega-6 levels properly balanced without them. There's also a huge issue that the balance of omega-3s to omega-6 in almost every dog food is way out of whack. It should be at a 1-to-1 ratio. Usually it's like 1-to-16 in most dry kibble and we wonder why dogs have inflammation. So that's why we now have seed oils in dog food. I hope more brands will get rid of them. We don't use them at Yumwoof, and I wrote a whole book about it.
