Carwood Lipton played a vital role in the assault on Brecourt Manor on D-DAY June 6th 1944. This is his personal recollection of the battle which is what the series writers of Band of Brothers used in the Brecourt battle scene.

Just got to visit Brecourt Manor this summer with Overlord Tours. They have permission from the owners to g on the field but they have to make sure not to let the cows out :) Just amazing to be right there where it all happened.

Really appreciate the expanding the lives of the men we all got to know on BoB. Thanks again for bringing them to us. Take care, W&T Keep safe.

The Brecourt assault was brilliantly shot and seemingly quite accurate. I'd have to add that Lipton's account of the battle is riveting. Thanks for doing all the extraordinary research that goes into these posts; it's a genuine labour of love.

From a cinematic standpoint it was the highlight of the whole series, so it was very well done. If it was based upon Lipton's account which I believe it was it was spot on. Carwood Lipton was the very epitome of a good solider who could follow orders with a clear head in the heat of combat.

Has anyone else read that there was a sink hole in the field at Brecourt Manor that a family sheltered in while the battle raged above them?
Another informative presentation.
Thank you.

Lipton seemed to be understated and squared away. He certainly went far in his postwar life.

If Lipton had been a lieutenant at the time, he would have gotten a Silver Star instead of a Bronze Star. If one studies how decorations are often bestowed, officers will get the higher awards even when they are not acting necessarily in a leadership position.

Excellent work here and yes I believe they did this battle justice. In real life guns jam, people get shot, and soldiers lose weapons (at least in this scenario). As modern paratroopers have better time tested gear. My favorite channel!!💎👊🏻✊🏾

The writer of the episode said he used all the mens recollections and Winters diagram for reference.

Well done scene, accurate to Lipton’s description and historically but edited to be exciting to the audience. My favourite scene in the whole series, showing tactics and elan of the paratroopers that overcame the numerical superiority and heavy firepower of the Germans.

That was the Regimental S2 I believe that took that round to the head. Grazing fire is no joke.
Rest in Peace. 🫡

Another excellent video.

I have heard this is probably the most accurate battle portrayed in BoB, besides Hall. Since I've heard several others in here say this event was alot longer than it was portrayed, i wonder what the length of the actual fighting was? I also wonder how long it was before the tanks arrived.

I assume the photo at 09:00 is taken outside the Nissen huts at the football...sorry...soccer pitch at Aldeburgh?

Need some help as I have been trying to figure out exactly where W.O. JG Andrew Hill was killed? What field was it exactly? Any help would be appreciated as I have read and watched videos and tried to correlate the exact location--little confusing--Appreciate it.

I've been told there's always been one man they could count on. Led them into the Bois Jacques, held them together when they had the crap shelled out of them in the woods. Every day, he kept their spirits up, kept the men focused, gave 'em direction... all the things a good combat leader does. You don't have any idea who I'm talking about, do you?

I think they’ve filmed it right. Filming the intensity of their first combat action.

Although Winters explained the battle did take some hours in total to clear all the guns.

They obviously used alot of Lipton's account but I would say Winters was there every step of the way and would give the most insight to the attack

I think every Easy man who fought at Brecourt ultimately survived the war. Remarkable if true. Remind me if I’m wrong.

No, I don't think that the scene was well shot in the movie. I read somewhere that the actual assault took several HOURS.
