Well…I live there. And while thousands enjoy swimming in the river on a beautiful day, I don’t know a single person who commutes by swimming. The bags are mainly for valuables and help keep you afloat if you want to take it easy in the water.

WITHOUT A DOUBT, SWITZERLAND IS HEAVEN ON EARTH!!! It's stunningly beautiful like something out of a fantasy with a culture of responsibility (both to the country and to oneself) to match.
Imagine just how different EVERY aspect of your life would be with only this commute home from work every evening being changed in your life. Id be a whole different person!

I‘m swiss and I went there several times (it‘s the Aare between Thun and Bern). Whilst it is a really nice summer activity NO ONE USES IT AS A WAY TO GET HOME FROM THE OFFICE, that‘s just some made up BS😂

Happy to see Switzerland has beautiful clean rivers. Taking care of your waterways says a lot about the people that do and should be automatic, sadly its not.

I saw this in Basel in weekends thousands of citizens with water proof bags and snacks and beer and enjoying the river ...just going with the flow ...so enjoying

I did this swim in Basel back in the early ‘00’s - you can buy the waterproof bags and even swimwear at several locations down by the Rhine riverside and there are places to get changed - my boyfriend at the time was living in Basel and we randomly decided to join all the people swimming in the river!
