Excel Scenario Manager: Forecast the future!

Scenario Manager in Excel is possible with the scenario analysis tool available in the Data tab in Excel. It is not the only option nor necessarily the best one. We will see that there are other possibilities using validated lists and formulas.

In this video we will start by setting a financial forecast where we will consider different sales growth rates to obtain the total profit at 3 years. Using the Excel scenario manager, we can show the different scenarios, their results and a small comparative summary.

We will also see how to build scenarios using validated lists and formulas to achieve a similar effect. Although it does not show us the summary as such, we will see that it offers us a more intuitive possibility of showing the scenario to other people. For this exercise we will solve it with the IF Function but also with a Vlookup or HLookup, according to the arrangement of your information.

The application of scenarios in Excel is useful for any situation that involves future planning.
