I guess the $29 battery replacement really impacted this.

Why buy a new phone when your "old" phone still works for YOU

People don't want 1000 phones every year bruh
Make these phones cheaper

The thing is phones released now arent really that much better than phones released 3-4 years ago. Compare that to 2015 vs 2011 the gap was a lot bigger.

It's become more like how we use cars. Most people don't buy a new "daily driver" every year. If it works, we keep using it.

Because $1, 000 phones is a bad investment!!

These days buying the newest phone every year is similar to buying a new laptop every year, it's just not necessary!

Mid-range and low range phones are hot now.

Also it's a lot easier to upgrade a $300 Android but a $1000 iPhone you have to really think about upgrading.

When it comes to anything, phone, car, laptop, I use it till it no longer works and then I get a new one. Phones now last a long time so there's no need to get a new one.

People don't want to pay a thousand dollars for a phone.

The reason is because years ago flagships costed 300-400, then 600-700 now 1000-1300. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why.

My iPhone 7 Plus has almost 3 years and it only asked for a new battery. Stuck on iOS 12.1.2 for jailbreak purposes. Performs like it came out of the box and still looks brand new. I really don’t understand how people get so obsessed with the “new and latest” smartphones

once most flagship phones go 1500+ people will stop buying flagship and companies will be forced to lower prices...

Who would have thought that going from 800€ to 1400€ would be a bad move, and releasing a phone every two years with decent build quality and server specs would result in people holding on to their phones

I might be a tech enthusiast but I’ll put my 2 cents. I would buy a new phone... on a contract. I can’t afford a $1, 000 phone. A majority of Americans don’t have enough for a $400 emergency. What makes the cell phone companies think people will just drop a thousand a year on their phones?

Have much of the latest tech but still have a 4 years old iPhone 6s because it simply works like in the first day.

Still with my 6s+ JUST for the 3.5mm jack. I have replaced the battery twice and the rear camera once (all myself). I will upgrade when Apple comes to their senses and returns functionality over “courage.” LOL.

I wound up getting an iPhone X last week because it was $400 cheaper than the XS.
