Apple has fallen. This topic has some gravity.

The fact that it’s even a discussion goes to show that most governments are in the pocket of big corporations. If I own a car, and the transmission goes, I can replace it. Doesn’t need to be direct from the car manufacturer, just needs to be compatible.

Whether or not you get an OEM part is irrelevant. If someone builds an LCD screen that works with the iPhone you should be able to buy it and use it however you want. Apple suing shows that they don’t care about their customers at all, and will stop at nothing to make as much money as humanly possible

Just shows how petty this company has Burnt because of a person just trying to make a They themselves know that their repairing costs are ridiculous. Pity.

Or just buy a top of the range Android smartphone for half the price of the repair of the iPhone

If you own a car, you can have it repaired anywhere or do it yourself. Same with other consumer goods. You will void any warranty from the manufacturer. So what?

What makes Apple exempt?

I pay for the phone, it’s my property. I should be able to do whatever I want with it

In India the iPhone service is not good even though it appears me that my phones original parts can be removed for their profit

It's ok to charge 300 bucks for a screen which costs 16? This is the real question.

One of the rubber key caps in my 2012 MBP was damaged and hence the key stopped working. Took it to an Apple "authorised reseller". Was told that they will have to replace the entire keyboard. Price: USD 300.

I fixed the issue with a small piece of rigifoam. Price USD 0.

I'll give it a few years and apple will be irrelevant..

Another point you missed: "Authorized" repair shops aren't authorized to switch parts, they don't even get parts from Apple, they are required to swap out whole groups or even the whole phone. That much about authorized repair shops.
You should spend a day watching Louis Rossmann's channel.

There is no other reason for Apple to be against 3rd party repair other than profit. And there should be a law against that greed! It is allowed in any other products and they want the exception? BS Apple, CRAPLOAD of BS! We should be allowed to be able to keep what we bought longer. There is no downside to it other than Apple can't get the money. It's good for the consumers' pockets, it's good for the economy and better for the environment.
