Late question but I did all of these and window installer still manages to stop whenever I start any game.Causing my pc to freeze or black screen.I even tried registry edits and nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you should specify that this fix is for windows 10. My problem is that my windows 7 installer isn't working and this is preventing me from installing windows 10.

Thx mate. but I am using Vista 64 bit, os on 'run' doesnt let me run as admin. Instead, whoever set it up, has, running after 'run' . cmd c:\sharon\user etc, which and when I type in the comand on ms dos its says, "not authorized" any ideas how to overide? msiinstaller is not working w the first fixes.

Tried alot but nothing worked. (windows 10). Turned out that my windows installer was completely disabled so i couldnt start it even from the services console or command line. What actually worked was running "regedit.exe" in the "run" console and navigating to:

Once you get there, shift to the corresponding right pane and locate Start.

Double click on the same to edit the value.

In the value data box, set your preferred value.

Automatic – 2

Manual – 3

Disabled – 4

Automatic (Delayed Start) – 2

I set mine to 2 for Automatic and exited, then restarted my laptop. Solved my problem
