With Fire Emblem Engage having just launched on the Nintendo Switch, I read that not only is Alear prevented from marriage with over a dozen characters, but support conversations in the English version have been borderline CENSORED!! So, I decided to turn my disappointment into an animated parody!

It's weird to think about since generally, rings like this in fire emblem generally mean marriage, so what is the WHOLE point of the localization making it "friends with platonic benefits" when it still symbolizes marriage? Baffles my mind

Censored, yes. "Heavily" censored, no.

This isn't Fates where actual game content was removed, like Japanese voice and text options, or certain DLC.

Yeah there was a lot of censorship. Goldmary had a lot of her lines changed so she doesnt seem as narcissistic even though that's her thing, the whole bit about Rosado's village uncaring about gender was completely made up, source material doesn't bring it up at all, Louis's personal skill also got namechanged, although to be fair it's original name is a hard one to localize. Gatekeeper of the Lily Garden iirc is the rough translation of the original? Oh and his hobby isn't people watching, it's watching girls specifically. Not in a pervy way, mind you, he just likes watching girls interact with one another.

Man they really should’ve just made two different types of rings for if you want to romance a character and make one your best friend. Also I’m still confused on whether Alear is a teen or adult because most of their romance options(with the exception of Citrinne) are basically 18-26 I think with age.

I mean, compared to watching over Alear for your entire life, waiting a few more years shouldn't be so bad.

Not to mention how Dragons last thousands of years so she will most likely be exactly the same when you turn whatever legal age floats this fantasy world's boat. Heck, she'll be mostly the same on your death bead as well!

I think it's weird that everyone's talking about the censorship like its just a Clanne thing. Like- we have, to my knowledge, a grand total of 0 S-supports for any characters

I find it funny how they censored Alear's relationship with the young characters as if Alear wasn't an almost immortal Dragon that has lived longer than any of the human characters, lol.
"Oh sorry, I can't marry you since you are 4 years younger than this other character. Forget the fact that I'm the oldest in this army, that doesn't change things at all."

this reminds me of the pointless censorship in Fire Emblem Fates where if cousins marry it won't say that they were actually married but Corrin can marry Azula and have a child and it turns out they are cousins. Their mom's are sisters.

a lot of engages characters felt a little stunted, just to find out that in the original japanese a ton of dialogue was heavily toned down and censored.

Reminder that they're both at an age where it's PERFECTLY NORMAL to at the very least date, and if they're old school, talk about engagement(which they're doing now).

See, Anna, Jean, and Hortensia being platonic makes sense, after all, even with a 17 year old alear, it'd look weird...but excuse me, some of these have them being the exact same age, and since Alear *isnt* 18, and is instead 17, Romeo and Juliet laws would allow their relationship, even in America. Sure, legally they cant bone, but...i mean they're just getting Married, it's on you if you find that awkard.

That's what I don't get, why did fire emblem lose the romantic heartwarming marriages? I get why it happened to three hope (I think) but engage? I hope this isn't going to happen to all future fire emblem games
