Daiwa Reel Maintenance

A simple maintenance routine for your reels will keep your fishing reel at top performance and add years of life to your favourite piece of equipment. THANK YOU SO MUCH for spreading this informative video. I get so tired of people hosing their reels down and spraying CRC deep inside their reels and they come to me asking why it's not smooth anymore. I try to tell people not to do that but there are so many misleading videos on Youtube that get it wrong. Thank you for this.

I have an early model Exist 2508. It was a shade noisy from new so after owning it many years I sent it to Daiwa Sydney for a service. It came back quieter but still not as smooth and quiet as a bunch of current sub $200 reels. I went to Mallacoota fishing and two days after the reel got some spray from the boat (just fine spray and nothing else) things started going wrong. The reel started making strange noises then two days later it nearly seized. I treat all of my gear with kids gloves so I was seriously unhappy at this point because the $900 reel had become unusable. I suspect the Daiwa tech who overhauled my expensive Exist fitted cheapo Daiwa bearings and not the 'MagSeal' units that they should have. I also suspect that Diawa will not respond to this comment but I'll keep my open and remain optimistic.

i would love to see a demonstration in the internal maintenance on the diwia freams 2500 reel, my reel is locking up ever so slightly and wanting to know how to maintain it as if it was out of the box. Kind regards :D

What about Ballistol?
I purchased a Daiwa cetrtate 3000 reel from Ottos tackleworld Drummoyne. The staff member I dealt with sold me Ballistol and told me the product is unbeatable.

The Ballistol was sprayed in the drive gear and under the stack. My Question is this safe for the bearings and drive gear?
