In The Fade (RIP Mark Lanegan)

Queens of the Stone Age live in Switzerland, 2003.

Mark Lanegan passed away last week in Ireland. Just wanted to say how important his music and voice were to more than one generation. Been listening to a lot of Screaming Trees, Isobel Campbell, Soulsavers, his solo stuff and off course Queens for the past few days and recollecting the two times I've had the chance to meet him and say a brief "thank you" for everything. Rest in power, Lanegan.

It makes me so sad that I never got to see my favorite frontman of all time perform live.. Lanegan has one of the best voices in the history of rock music. The night Porter was something else. Rip buddy. Maybe in the next life.

Thanks for this. Only saw him live once. December 2019, his 2nd last public gig. Got some stuff signed, shook his hand and thanked him for everything. His solo music has kept my head above water more than anyone will ever know and he was a wonderful part of Queens. Keep his wife and all of his friends in your thoughts folks.

I always thought this man looked like he'd been carved out of granite..something completely monumental, rugged about his features & that VOICE..omg a voice as old as the hills ! Rest in power dark prince xx

Man, you can tell he is fighting his demons during this. Gen X, what a tragic bunch we are. They are all gone, Mark, Layne, Chris, Scott, Kurt and so many others all gone. How depressing.

I saw Mark Lanegan solo 3 times, one time with Queens and one time with The Gutter Twins. All amazing!

The soft vibe of the music with that raw voice and attitude. What a song! RIP Mark. Lately I've been thinking a lot about you, I hope you find peace in the other side. See you there.

I admittedly only know of mark lanegan from guest spots with queens and the odd screaming trees song on the radio but i am going to rectify that now. he had a hard life, some of it his own doing but most of it not hopefully he has peace but it is sad he left so young still. R.I.P. legend.

Really sad I won't be seeing him live now. Developed quite an fascination and admiration of mark as a musician and a personality over the past couple of years. Something about how intense his vibe was and how that changed leveled/mellowed out later in his life. Bless up dark Mark, rest in peace man.

Got to see Mark the day after my son was born. It was an emotional time and his show at El Club in detroit was perfection.

Just heard this for the first time. 2 words….. fucking brilliant. Perfectly composed song, great musicians, and lyrics that are simply mind blowing. Love this one!!!!

Seen him countless times from 2001. Best was probably Leeds Festival in a small marquee, last set of the weekend, on the Sunday night. He followed Mondo Generator. Then Nick came out and they sang ‘Four Corners’ together. Was like 2005, after the Queens split. A true artist and front man to rival any other. RIP brother. 🖤
