Things Went Wrong | Boneheaded Boaters of the Week | Broncos Guru

Welcome back to Boneheaded Boaters of the Week! As usual we review some clips of some people doing some silly things on a boat mixed in with some people doing incredible things on boats.

This week we have a wild one as a truck takes on a tractor trailer.

Be sure to check out our merch to show you rep the drain plug mafia. Also if you see anything crazy happening on your waterways be sure to contact us to let us know and you may see you video here as well.

We also started a new boating group on FB called Drain Plug Mafia be sure to join to participate in everything boating.

I've tried in the past to explain to people that they are effectively adding a higher running gear by putting oversize tires on a truck but reducing low end power. Usually just get blank stares. Believe it or not the set up of most trucks is optimized at the factory.

I laugh whenever I see “boulevard 4X4s” with 4” lifts, huge off road wheels & tires and led lights all over stuck on ramps…when my bone stock F250 pulls without issue.

Using chains or tow straps for a sailboat launch is a known technique. Most will have a dolly to support the front of the trailer. Use straps or chains with a closed connection so they can’t come off.

My sailboat doesn’t need as deep as these fixed keel boats, so I have a 10ft solid extender, but I have seen other guys do this with their boats.

I love guys who buy a truck, jack it up and throw stupid tires on it...then get all confused when they can't pull their 32' Contender out of the water.

I helped my buddy move houses back in the day. Before the onset of lights on solid horizontal bars, it was nothing, to ride the top of the house, and move lights on wires as needed. Each course was measured, and pre planned.

Duxbury, MA - I wondered why retired guys liked hanging out at the boat ramp when I was a kid. It was entertainment.

A while back, I had a 18' jet that my roomate and we could hit the ramp, trailer, secure and exit in less than 2 minutes. Launching was even faster. It was a symphony baby. You should stick one of those in once in a while.

Thanks Broncos Guru for the good clean entertainment, my kids love watching your videos with me. I'm a Florida boy too, north Tampa area, lots of good boating including the Harris Chain of Lakes, 50, 000 acres of water, if you ever make it up this way. We've got a 2019 Regal 22 fastdeck, makes cruising very comfortable :-)

When you put your vehicle in park and set the parking brake the front wheels are still completely free to roll. If you do this at the ramp and your rear wheels are on the slick algae, as soon as you let your foot off the brake, down you'll go.

As many of these videos as you’ve done when you start laughing it makes it that much more fun to watch.

In the early 80s my dad bought a 26ft Sea Ray cabin cruiser. He used our 78 Jeep Cherokee to tow it the 100+ miles from the dealership to our house, but he didn't want to take the interstates so he took state and US routes. The 100+ mile trip took 4 hours. The highways and byways of southern Indiana are a lot like goat paths, and the closer you get to the Ohio River the worse they get. Once we got the boat home it was never towed more than 10 miles.

I like the 14’-16’ boat with outboard I saw years ago on the side of the highway- propeller side up! Top of the boat on the shoulder, trailer on top of the boat, propeller being the highest point. No tow vehicle present. Probably developed a high speed wobble then flipped and tore itself free.

Love Broncos Guru & all his channels! I always look forward to new posts! 👋🏼🙋🏽‍♀️✌🏽

Side note: (Apologies in advance if I misheard/misunderstood.) "Unique" means very, very, very common. ➡️ 1 adjective. being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else. This means that, by definition, it's impossible for something to be "...unique, but not very uncommon..."

Love your videos, many struggles pulling boats out are because the car has too much horse power. They don't know how to put the truck in low gear and feather it, to keep traction. Hilarious

I’ll be dragging my big Sea Ox down to the ramp next week. She gets slipped for the season so I rent a 1 ton for the task. My 3/4 ton is rated to pull her, but the bigger truck handles the long trailer bridge much better. Folks think it’s overkill, but towing a 6.5 ton 37’ long rig is no joke.

I have launched and recovered my fixed keel sailboat many times using a rope. The trailer has a small wheel and tire near the front that drops down. Chock the trailer and disconnect. Pull the truck forward until the rope is tight. Remove the chocks and back the truck down the ramp until the trailer is deep enough to launch or retrieve. Pull the trailer out. Chock the wheels and attach hitch. Drive away. EZPZ. A friend of mine uses this method to launch his 13, 000 pound 33 foot keel boat...

I do the best I can at gently driving my little 16' flat bottom boat on the trailer! Then I just drive it out of the water! But That's Me!
