Boneheaded Boaters of the Week | Docking Fun

Welcome back to Boneheaded Boaters of the Week! As usual we review some clips of some people doing some silly things on a boat mixed in with come people doing incredible things on boats.

That boat trying to get into the slip is every boat owners nightmare. We came out to the marina to visit our boat and the first thing we see is this Deep Gouge the entire length and cracks in the gel coat, then a couple live aboard residents said they're surprised our boat still floats after getting crushed by an overnight visitor, long gone now. We ended up selling the boat, damage was the entire side.

The guys on the ATV got WAY further than I thought. I thought it was going right off the boat and into the water on the other side of the dock. Good effort boys, missed it by THAT much...

thanks for the video, guru.Here’s one you’ll like, I was at the wheel of a 70’ shrimp boat, pulling nets just out of the Savannah River channel, when this bonehead in a rented yacht, came on the radio.He was calling an 800’ container ship to tell them he was a sailboat sailing, and had the right of way.Being far nicer than I would have been, the pilot came back, and said””I couldn’t stop, or change course now even if I wanted to.You need to look up, commercial vessel constrained by draft”.The sailboat got out of the ships way, and decided to come harass the shrimp boat.They tried the same “We’re sailing’ and have the right of way.Now, I am a USCG licensed captain, somI came back with”This is a commercial fishing vessel towing nets, and we have the right of wayl”.They grudgingly got out of my way.The boat wasn’t mine'I was just spelling a friend of mine at the wheel'so he could go help the crew on deck.I didn’t get paid, but I did walk away with20# of freshly caught GA.shrimp.Seemed like a good deal to me!

As a sailor, the other thing we love to do is argue about who is stand on v. give way. Was a little hard to tell, but looked like both were on a starboard tack. If both on same tack, then the windward is give way and leeward is stand on. Of course both have responsibility to avoid collision, so both screwed up.

In Beverly Massachusetts this week a boat caught on fire. They called over the radio. “Out boats on fire”
