Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday that 1,026 soldiers of Ukraine's 36th Marine Brigade, including 162 officers, had surrendered in the besieged Ukrainian port city of Mariupol. Mariupol, which has been encircled by Russian troops for weeks, has seen the fiercest fighting and the most comprehensive destruction since Russia invaded on Feb. 24.

Even if this IS true ... 40+/- days, no relief, no ammo resupply, no food and little water. It's reported, if the wounded can barely hold a weapon, they return to the line. 1, 026 facing how many Russians? And it took the Russians HOW long to force a surrender? Troops surrender.. Americans, Brits, French, Canadians, Aussies, New Zealanders and many other nationalities have surrendered to countries they were at war with. They did their duty...can't ask more from them. The urge to want to live is very strong & basic.

I am very happy for those marines that laid down their weapons and surrendered. It’s completely pointless for them to continue. Their families need them and so does their country. No need to die for politicians and their geopolitical games. May they and their families find happiness and peace.
