Fighting Fentanyl Poisoning: The new program that's breaking down barriers and saving lives

More than 3,000 people died of a drug overdose in Tennessee in 2020, and the final 2021 numbers will be even higher. Much of that increase is being driven by fentanyl that's being mixed into street drugs or pressed into counterfiet pills. A new pilot project is hoping to reduce those fentanyl poisoning cases by connecting people who have overdosed or are at risk of overdose with intensive services to address their substance use disorder.
