A dangerous hike to the top of Multnomah Falls

The dangers of closed trails in the Columbia Gorge.

Yesterday. 7-27-23 was a gorgeous day with scores of people safely getting up and down the trail. Not an easy hike, but worth it!

We were thinking of going to Oregon in 2018, but we would have been so bummed if the trails up and around Multnomah Falls was closed. Glad we went this past June - it was gorgeous. Driving back toward Portland we did see a bunch of dead or burned trees on the mountainside and wondered what happened. Internet search said the combined stress of drought and heat. Thanks for this!

Crossing the first bridge didn’t seem all that dangerous. Looked like a 5 year old could do it easily. You can come across all these dangerous anywhere lol. So stupid how they close these down. Only thing I can see worth of closing it down is the worry of garbage people trying to push rocks over the cliff edge that are on the trail. Rather than that I see tons of “dangers” you can encounter on any un popular trails.
