Covid Update: The Flirt Variants

New variants of SARS-CoV-2 keep showing up. Some variants fizzle out. Others have a replication advantage and replace their ancestors. . As of today, in the US, we are seeing the fall of Jn.1 and the rise of two of it’s descendants: KP.2 – which accounts for 1 in 4 covid cases in the US and KP.1.1 – now at about 7.5% of US infections according to the CDC. These two variants are called the FLIRT variants and they are part of the Omicron huge family of variants.

In one week, I was exposed, got it, and passed it on to 2 people one of which needed to cancel a surgery for cancer. The person I got it from has infected her family. So say what you want. It’s out there and spreads quickly.

Thank you for doing these videos. My youngest and I are severely immunocompromised and everyone's mostly pretending it's all over. It's never been over for us and it's hard to get good info now. We've just kept the same precautions as always and so far they've worked for us. ❤️
