Dutch gov’t to buy out farmers to reduce livestock emissions

The European Union has approved a Dutch government plan to buy out thousands of farmers.
It is part of a multibillion-dollar drive to cut nitrogen emissions, which are affecting biodiversity in the Netherlands.
But the plan has faced strong opposition from the agricultural sector.
