To the Netherlands, where the newly elected nationalist government says it will declare an "asylum crisis" as part of a major crackdown on migration. The move would enact emergency powers to restrict the number of asylum seekers.
Around 40,000 arrive in the Netherlands every year, which the government says is putting pressure on housing, healthcare and education. Opposition parties are questioning whether the move is necessary or even legal. The minister for asylum and migration says she wants the strictest asylum policy ever.

The newcomers weren't very hospitable to the hosts

The difference that one year makes, Sweden, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and even France changing border laws, changing migration laws, asylum laws.
This comes late, but still, better late than never.

The Dutch and other Europeans are not necessarily against immigration. The Dutch are not big fans of chaos and disorder. They are simply against the messy way the politicians did immigration and the poor results. For this reason, this will drive anti-immigration votes.

Highly support the Netherlands in this.

Good.Poland can do it. Why wouldn't other EU countries be able to have their own policy?

There must be limits that prioritize the concerns and interests of native citizens.

The Dutch are not against migration, but the country is small and already has 17.7m inhabitants. I, as a Dutch citizen, left the country because it was getting too full and overpopulation either through birth or migration can cause friction between communities. The whole of Europe needs to support each other to stop the mass illegal immigration from countries that are not in war zones etc. The EU needs to have meetings with countries that people are fleeing!

Bottom line is, you can't trust Brussels to do anything meaningful on immigration/asylum seekers. Save your countries .. do what you need to do. There will always be people criticising your decisions.

Illegal? I know what they are referencing... but the very idea that a country can not enforce its own boundary is ridiculous.

There is a massive housing crisis so it is difficult to take people in when there is nowhere to put them.

Why is there not a Dutch being interviewed or been asked for clarifications?

Guys, I’m a Moroccan Dutch, and I am personally fed up with the asylum situation in NL.. can you imagine that the government pays 105€ per day for every asylum seeker to stay in a 4 stars hotel, fed, housed, and pocket money for the whole family, all for free, while we are struggling to make end meets ! Enough with this mess being paid by our tax money ! The hotel is in Valkenburg by the way 😅

These laws are common sense and normal for any country except Europe and the West...weird eh.

As usual you’re deliberately missing the point.
The problem is NOT the situation in asylum centres, it’s the situations immigrants cause in our societies.
