Is LEGO Indiana Jones CANCELLED ALREADY?

LEGO released a statement regarding the unreleased LEGO Indiana Jones 77014 Temple of Doom set... that answered none of our questions! We still don't know if the set was delayed or cancelled. There's also a strong rumor that all LEGO Indiana Jones Summer 2023 Dial of Destiny sets have been cancelled too. The LEGO Indiana Jones theme revival might be short lived.

Small update: apparently Temple of Doom is CANCELED. Like actually but LEGO won’t put that statement out publicly. What a crap show at their ambassador program. Expected though.

How is the actual temple of
Doom not an iconic scene from the franchise? The rail cars is one of my favorite scenes from the first 3 movies and seeing how we have two sets from Raiders of the Lost ark and one from Last Crusade not getting one from Temple of doom is a huge miss because we need the great trinity of sets from those movies

The original 2008 wave of sets is easily one of the best lines ever released by Lego. Those sets were adored and people bought them like hotcakes. If Lego seriously stops after three measly sets, omitting 3 films out of a 5 film franchise, that’s just ridiculous. Temple of Doom is iconic and this set looked wonderful. And wasn’t the whole reason for bringing this line back to promote Dial of Destiny?

If the temple of doom is truly canceled I’m gonna be seriously pissed. It was my most wanted set in years from my favorite Indy film. As a lifelong Indiana Jones fan, depriving us of such an awesome set because a design error or Lego being too soft or whatever is beyond me.

This makes me sad. I didn’t have the chance to get the temple of doom set the first time, so I thought this would be my chance but alas. I really hope there will be more because three sets doesn’t do justice to this amazing theme.

Seeing the 'Fighter Plane Chase' set revived a bit of trivia. Now if I'm remember correctly, the German fighter prop from "Last Crusade" was made by using a Swiss aircraft, but I can't specifically remember the name of the model of Swiss plane used for the movie itself.

But either way, this way they could make a semi-realistic BF-109 for the chase without destroying a real one for the flying into & exploding in the tunnel scene.

Fingers crossed they continue the Indiana Jones line. From how awesome the Golden Idol Temple looks, I'm really hoping that they'll eventually do a similar styled multi-part 18+ diorama of the 3 Holy Grail challenges (possibly 4 part if they include the grail chamber) from the Last Crusade.

If you look at the instruction manual for the temple of the Golden idol set, you can see that lego is being very open with representing the Indiana jones movies by talking about the film's topics on the movie timeline page.

It's funny how we're at a point where we think that it's more likely that LEGO looked at the finished set and said "nah, too controversial, let's cancel" that an actual issue with design, production, packaging, distribution or any explanation that would be reasonable in the context of any other company.

Makes me wonder how many sets get all the way to the end of the production before being canned. Seems like a lot of sunk costs to not release a set that we have pictures of the box art of. I wonder how much money they lost on the technic osprey from a few years ago

Heard somewhere that The Temple of Doom was delayed due to some stability issues with the rails. I don’t know whether or not that was true but I hope so. I’d really like to see this set come out!
