I‘m not afraid of the pain, I’m just terrified of needles, so I get really anxious while the piercer is setting things up (cleaning, getting the needle/jewelry out, etc). When the piercer is actually piercing my ear all my anxiety goes away lol

1. do your research on the piercer, they’re not out to hurt you
2. talk to your piercer, communicate
3. take over the counter painkillers (acetaminophen, NOT ibuprofen because ibuprofen thins your blood and will make it more likely to bleed)
4. numbing cream / agents
5. distract yourself
6. deep breath, focus on your breathing
7. meditate beforehand
8. watch reactions or watch it being done to get a feel of how it will be
9. embrace the pain !! sometimes it’s tension or being uncomfortable
pain is temporary 😄 it should be the least of your concerns, it only lasts a few seconds

My trick has always been to ask for a cup of water and to bring a lollipop (none of my piercings are oral!). That way I can sip water during the buildup and suck on the lollipop during the piercing. That way I have something to focus on, it keeps my blood sugar up, and I know I'm hydrated. None of my piercings have been particularly painful either!

I am not worried about the pain, in worried about the effects after the piercing. Like the bump and inflammation

Moms are guinea pigs. Going into a dark room, making sure there are no creepy things under the bed and in the closet before the child can relax and spring into bed. How I wish it were so simple to help my kids feel safe now.
My piercer didn't rush me at all. I practically asked for his life story. I was in that shop a long time, and let people ahead of me before it was finally my turn. I was terrified. It was about seven seconds of rather intense pain, then the satisfaction of knowing I did it. By the way, two marathon labors, at home, no meds--so I'm not a total wimp. :0)

I got my septum and lobes done at the same time. I was really anxious about the septum hurting and knew I couldn't escape it so I asked to have that done first. I barely felt my piercer do my ears after that! So my tip is if you get more than 1 piercing at a time, go with the more sensitive parts first. Cartilage, septum, nipples etc. This could be different for everyone so go with what's sensitive in your opinion on your body! :)

Tongue piercing is seriously the least painful I've ever had (got and nostrils)....was like a knife through butter 😁 its the healing process that's a b**ch 😬😂

My piercer knows I have anxiety so we talk while she is preparing everything and cleaning the area. Then we go silent and I just take a few deep breaths before she tells me too then I have to which is hard!!!! To continue to breath through it

I have an appointment in two hours lol and I’m really excited but it’s like all in my throat 😅

I’ve found it helps if you know what piercings you want generally and make the actual appointment rather last minute, even doing a walk in if your piercer allows it because it gives you less time to stress in anticipation of the appointment.

I have a couple piercings getting a septum in a couple of days but I’ve never been afraid of needles really for university I had to get 5 shots and I barely flinched, it’s just the buildup to getting into the room, personally I go to a shop that has a calming atmosphere and just meditate there, it worked for my nostril. But yeah embracing the pain will make the piercing better, it provides a sense of security and relief and you feel powerful!!!!

I’m always so nervous when getting a piercing but I found out that my piercer always asks you to breathe in as he’s piercing and it helps me calm down and relax enough to where the piercing doesn’t hurt so much. Idk if other piercers do that but if they don’t maybe try it

my outer double helix is killing me! I got it done with the butterfly back which was a huge mistake. He did it with a needle but my ear literally engulfed the earring and I went to my piercer twice. the second time he removed the top one and told me to come back in 2 weeks to get it re-peirced . I can't wait til the pain subsides thank you for the video!

i am an older guy and for unknown reason or adralene I decided to have one of my nipple pierced. I asked the piercer about the pain and she said minimal and only for few seconds. She did the pirecing of my one nipple and it hurt like hell. After the piercing she said if I had said anything about the pain I wouldn't have done it. It was painful but over in few seconds and had a burning sensation for a day. I love it. The only problem I have is how to protect as I sleep on my stomach and when it catches with quilt or even my own hands it is extremely painful. I had to wear something tight over it.
