Soundcore Boost V2 Great bass for its size, This is classed as a compact travel speaker but for me is a best buy at around £50.
Good value Speakers I actually listen to:
JBL PartyBox Encore: Very small battery but VFM for a deep bass party speaker
Minirig mk3 2.2 system: The Minirigs are as fiddly as hell to setup and the app is flakey but when you get it right and the full 2.2 system (or 4.2 with the minis) is a fantastic hifi like listen.
Audio Pro C3: Open and neutral but lacks deep bass, also has WiFi connection
Marshall Stockwell 2: balanced immersive, not loud. A go-to for me for a relaxing moderate volume listen and quite accurate with bass at 8
Beosound A1 1st gen: better than 2nd gen, connectivity and battery issues. Deep bass for small size. Not cheap but one of the best listens for its very small and flat size.
Denon 250bt: discontinued but still a reference for size/quality ratio.
Tribit Maxsound Plus: The most neutral speaker you will find for size and price. Replaced by the elss neutral Tribit Xsound Plus 2.
Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 Much cheaper than the Bose Micro option and way better value but a very different sound. More clinical (neutralish) than the Bose.
Tribit Stormbox Pro: Recently dropped to $99 making it great value

I’ve had my pair of Blasts for over 2 years now, one in my garage and the other in my living room both high up on shelves, plenty of bass and volume for my use. They sound really good paired in stereo as well, even outdoors.

Thanks dude, this was the comparison i wanted to see on the W20.
For me listening on your video on calibrated studio monitors with 2 12 inch subs.
I way prefer the sound of the blast up to 80%.
I have been thinking about pick up a couple for a good while now.
But i am still holding out though, hoping for something better to come along.
Because that 5k dip is really disappointing and i find using a mains lead to charge,
really stupid in 2024 when we have convenient USB-C with PD all over the place.
Keep going i really appreciate your work keeping us updated.

The X20 performs best for outdoor use, where bass isn’t as important as it is inside. Clarity, volume & battery life. The three most important features for a good outdoor speaker.

Default on the WKing blows. As soon as you start turning a few adjustments up, it livens up a lot.

Have had 2 blasts for a couple years know. For 300 bucks and alans eq settings not much compares. They're dynamic away from each other but put them somewhat close and against a wall or a corner and they get so much louder and heavier. They charge fast and the battery life is awesome. Perfect for a golf cart btw. Both have fallen from heights without any audible changes. Just some scratches. Wish we had more control over the lights because both shows are just dumb.

By the way, i'm really excited for the soundlink max. A lot of good rumors about this speaker. I have seen a review already, a short one, where i could see the drivers under the grill, and it had 2 fullrage drivers and a tweeter in the middle.
Pretty strange driver placement, but they say it has stereo seperation😮

Nice and informative review Alan. Never heard the Tribit Stormbox Blast in person but loved all the good reviews from you and others. Maybe this time around I will get the Stormbox blast(2) when it comes out.. hopefully very very soon as well. But I've always been curious about the W-King X 20. I don't usually play past 65% volume so most likely i won't get the befit of the W-King X20.

I have buy the X20 to try, i have the boombox1, boombox3, partybox 100, 320, Bose F1, L1 speaker etc, im not jbl fanboy but i prefer the Boombox 3 indoor 0 to 80% they have better twitter better high defined, W-king x20 is good but for outdoor when the defined sound of BB3 is not is less felt and have less power... but hey my ear is used to BB3 for inside the house. W-King Need a lot of EQ and don't use the Bass boost
