Here in Malaysia, it was a choice but now it is not a choice anymore. They are making it compulsory.

Chapter 33 verse 59 - choosing between covering or getting abused is NOT "freedom of choice"

I had a friend who said she had a choice and the proof was that her sister had chosen not to wear hijab. Then she laughed and smiled while talking about how nice her father was to her because she wore hijab and how mean he was to the little sister for not doing so. "Choice".

I'm always amused by western, free women putting a hijab on willingly. WHY would you wear a symbol of a movement that treats everyone like garbage, and women in particular? Does you feeling better while wearing it willingly really justify supporting those who force others to do it?

Ask the women of Iran or Afghanistan if they have a choice.

Yes, it really annoys me when muslims complain that Western people try to impose their way of life on them, but when speaking about hijab they focus mostly on muslim women from this "disgusting" West where they have a choice or they can go to the police when their family or husband try to force them to wear hijab.
Honestly, most of the muslim women were silent about Mahsa Amini case

I read somewhere that when a female child gets her period for the first time, her father is informed and then he decides if she will wear the hijab. It’s his choice not hers.

It's a choice 💀 why a woman got beaten by the police for not wearing the hijab properly? I just forgot the country

The choice is wearing it, or suffering for not wearing it🫤

“Tell your wives, your daughters, and the believing women to draw over themselves their outer garments. This will make it more likely they are recognized and not harmed (harassed)” Surah Al-Ahzab 33:59

I now get why some people even women are obsessed with blaming the victim’s clothes for rapes. One reason is that this religious way of thinking has been so deeply ingrained in their minds almost like it’s carved in stone 🥲

This verse reminds me of a post I once read

He told her: I respect you because you wear a hijab!

So she took it off and said: I don't want your respect based on a piece of garment! The respect of a woman should be based on her compassion, knowledge and humanity; same as a man

I don't think it is ever a choice, unless someone is wearing it for secular reasons. Fashion let's say or a political statement. But as soon as it is for religious reasons so 99, 9% it is not a choice anymore. I wear it, because that is what god wants. Where is the choice?

How does hijab even get you into heaven???
What has it got to do with righteousness???

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
Isaiah 64:6 ESV

“I am the way, the truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me”
Jesus the Messiah/Christ

The amount of young girls buying cute non modest clothes just for it to be rotten in their wardrobe, and the amount of times they say "if hijab is not compulsory ill wear..." would be enough to decide it is indeed not a choice. I was one of them back then

There's a huge gap between wearing a hijab, dressing modestly western style and dressing provocative clothing. Clerics should leave the choice to women, women should use their own or their sisters brain to make a sensible choice. In case of doubt: there are a lot of nasty people out there.

What is funny is that, western women find it restrictive and limiting when the Bible teaches modesty. They criticise Christianity, but suddenly Hijab / Niqab is liberating

Definitely not a choice for women in Iran, Saudia (before MBS) and Afghanistan under the Taliban. Btw in 2002, a girls school caught fire in Mecca and they were prevented from escaping by the religious police because they didn’t have their hijabs on. 15 of them died due to suffocation.
