I was just happy to chat with you about hustle and burnout, I had no idea you'd turn that conversation into this incredibly rad story! Thank you so much, Matt. Seriously, means the world to us to know you and be part of the amazingly thoughtful content you're putting out into the world. ☺️💪🏼

And for anyone watching this video and feeling like you're on the edge of burnout, don't beat yourself up over it. It happens to all of us. It sucks, but you will get through it. Give yourself space and time to recover. 🙌

School is a 14 year burnout... working midnight to midnight on assignments deadline after deadline on projects, essays, and the heap amounts of homework that they assign us just to spit all the knowledge out on a test and forget everything the day after.

This hit me so hard. I'm in college and working two jobs right now, and just found out that due to an accounting error I have to wait an entire year to apply to my terminal program. While at first that was devastating, I've started to see it almost as a blessing in disguise. Now I can take a year to be whole person after grinding so hard for the last 3 years, and I'll probably finish my education stronger for it

Great message Matt. Its interesting we always think once were successful it will be easy to take care of yourself and your relationships more but its the complete opposite. Definitely takes discipline!

Basically just describing university and college. Endless deadlines, working on the weekends all to what? Get a degree so we can work even more.

4:55 – "If you’re always up against deadline, always working weekends, never feel like you have enough time for your health or your relationships, you’re either stuck in a shitty job, that you need to get out of or you have your priorities misaligned."

Thank you, Matt for this this video, it's really helpful at this time in my life, I've been trying to decide either to quit or to stay at current job.

I feel like this as a student atm. 14 hour study days, part time work, while trying to keep friends. Thanks for this

Thanks to you I’ve adopted minimalism a little as a 14 year old, this past weekend I cleaned my entire room, cleaned and organized my closet, shit I got rid of an entire bureau. And because of you phone video I have used my phone less by 3 1/2 hours and now use it for about 2 hours a day, so THANK YOU!!

This video came out on a very special day for me. I have been dealing with the anxiety of feeling like I am not enough for medschool, because I am struggling. I have been studying for 10-12hrs a day for over a year, I didn't achieve my goals and I started feeling depressed and overwhelmed. Yesterday I decided to take a break, a little of time to relax, to put myself together and to restart to love my life. This video helped me a lot. thank you

Relates so damn hard. I was working a full time 8-9hr job, extra freelance work after hours till 12am-2am, as well as trying to learn a new field through an online course I paid for. This went on for around 6 months. Sure the money was great, but I hit a point where I wasn't motivated to do anything anymore. I dropped the freelance work, but still find due to the workload, I kinda killed my passion for the industry I work in, and am wanting to just move away from it at this point.

This video is so true. I burnt out 5 years ago because I was constantly pushing myself more and more, had no real support from my family so I was trying to proove them wrong all the time, I felt like a disappointment to everyone because I couldn't sustain a 9-5 lifestyle like most people I know and so, I felt like I had to push always a bit further, even though I had legit reasons to slow down (lost a brother and my apartment in the same year and my dad had been rushed to the ER months before it all fell down). I crashed hard my very first day on my dream contract, which I had to cancel because of it. Took years to get out of that same pattern of being overly involved in everything, sometimes, even things I should not be involved in in the first place... So yeah, setting boundaries is EXTREMELY important. Otherwise, the losses you're gonna get might be much greater than what you would have "lost" resting. As my therapist said, resting is just as important to recharge your batteries lol

This remembered me of my last year at university. It was so full that for an entire year I didn't rest my mind nor my body. Study every day from morning to late night, work all weekends, repeat. Even holidays like Christmas or Easter were full of things to do. Generally when you end a semester, you have like a week to relax but I hadn't. When finally in summer I got my degree and I went to the beach, I felt in paradise, it was almost weird not having nothing to do...so I just can say that rest is not just a good thing, is *necessary*
